It's pre-emergent season! Pre-emergents should be applied as early as possible in the year to prevent weeds from coming up in the first place. If you've been thinking about getting weed control treatments, now is the best time to start! Now, you may be asking, "what are pre-emergents?" Pre-emergents are chemicals that create a barrier in the soil, preventing any and all weed seeds from germinating in the first place. They last several weeks after each application, and by the time the season is over for them, your grass has come out of dormancy from the winter. Your lawn is now ready to soak up fertilizer and nutrients to THRIVE and prevent crabgrass and other prevalent weeds from having free rein.

Summer is almost over! School has started and before we know it Thanksgiving will be just around the corner. But before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk about what the season changing means for your lawn. As the temperature gets colder, the grass becomes dormant. This is why Bermuda grass goes from green to a pale brown. Round 5 is essential for the health of your lawn.

Grassy Weed applications are specifically for grassy weeds such as dallisgrass, johnson grass, and certain types of hardy stickers found in some lawns that will not stay killed off with regular commercial weed control. These applications are an optional two application treatments. These treatments are applied between the Round 4 and Round 5 summer applications.

Additionally, we modify are program each year based on many factors: issues with resistance to specific active ingredients, amounts of rain we have been receiving, and temperatures. Especially here in Central Oklahoma, one year can be quite different then previous years.
• Post-emergents are used to kill weeds that either there is no pre-emergent to keep them from coming up (dandelions, nutsedge) and/or weeds that have broken through the pre-emergent.

Aerations are a very popular service in the lawn care world! Many claim that an aeration is the secret weapon to a beautiful lawn in Oklahoma. But what is an aeration? Why would you need one?

Stickers/Goat heads/Sandburs are an annual grassy weed that, if left alone, WILL cause havoc in your lawn. Stickers germinate in the spring and continue to be a nuisance during the summer until the first hard freeze.
