Why Oklahoma Lawns Need Fertilizer

Central Oklahoma is tough on grass. Red clay and sandy soils don't hold nutrients well, summer heat and drought stress the roots, and heavy spring rains wash nutrients away. Without regular feeding, even a healthy Bermuda lawn thins out, turns pale and leaves bare spots where weeds move in.

The right fertilizer at the right time of year gives your grass what it needs to grow thick, stay green and recover from stress. A thick lawn is also your best weed control, because dense turf crowds weeds out before they can take hold.

Fertilization Is Included in Our 6-Application Program

You don't have to buy fertilization separately. Our 6-Application Weed Control Program combines weed control and fertilizer in one plan, so your lawn is fed and protected all year.

  • A formula built for Oklahoma. Our fertilizer formula was developed with Oklahoma State University for central Oklahoma soils and warm-season grasses.

  • Fed and protected together. Fertilizer is applied alongside our pre-emergent and broadleaf weed control, so one visit does double duty.

  • Applied by trained technicians. We've been feeding lawns across the OKC metro for 25 years.

When We Fertilize

Your lawn's needs change with the seasons, and so does our program.

  • Spring: as Bermuda wakes up from dormancy, fertilizer helps it green up and spread to fill in thin areas.

  • Summer: steady feeding keeps the lawn thick and better able to handle heat and drought.

  • Late summer and fall: a final feeding strengthens roots so the lawn goes into winter healthy and comes back stronger next spring.

Exact timing depends on the weather each year, so we schedule by season rather than by calendar date.

Get the Most From Your Fertilizer

Fertilizer works best when your watering and mowing support it.

  • Water deeply, early in the morning. Aim for about 1 inch of water per week, including rain.

  • Adjust with the seasons. In spring, about twice a week for roughly 30 minutes per zone. In the summer heat, every other day.

  • Never cut more than one-third of the grass blade at a time. Scalping stresses the lawn.

  • Mow on a regular schedule, ideally the same day each week.
