Residential Weed Control in Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma City Weed Control From Your Neighbors in Moore
Locally owned just south of OKC and treating metro lawns for 25 years. Six seasonal applications built for Oklahoma City's clay soil, summer heat and stubborn weeds.
Oklahoma City covers more than 600 square miles, and lawns across it fight the same tough combination: heavy clay soil, long hot summers and weeds that never seem to take a season off.
Irish Green Lawn Care has treated lawns across the OKC metro since 2001 from our home base in Moore, right next door to south Oklahoma City. Our technicians know these neighborhoods, this soil and the weeds you're up against, and we build your program around them.
What Makes Oklahoma City Lawns Different
Clay soil. Much of Oklahoma City sits on dense clay. The City of Oklahoma City notes that water drains through clay slowly, so rain and sprinkler water often runs off before it reaches the roots, and the soil packs down hard by midsummer. Regular lawn aeration opens that soil back up.
Warm-season grass. Most sunny OKC yards are Bermuda, which goes dormant and tan in winter and greens up in spring. Weed control has to be timed around that cycle.
Weeds in every season. Crabgrass and dallisgrass in summer, henbit and chickweed in the cool months, and nutsedge in low, wet spots. A single treatment can't cover all of them.
Your Year-Round Weed Control Plan
Our 6-Application Program combines pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control with lawn fertilization, applied by season:
Late winter and spring: a pre-emergent barrier goes down before crabgrass sprouts, followed by broadleaf weed control and fertilizer as your Bermuda greens up.
Summer: targeted treatments for weeds that break through, plus feeding to help the lawn handle the heat.
Late summer and fall: a second pre-emergent for cool-season weeds like henbit, along with fertilizer and broadleaf control.
We also spray the cracks in your driveway and sidewalks, and service calls between visits are free.
Watering Under OKC's Odd/Even Schedule
Oklahoma City's odd/even watering schedule is permanent. If your address ends in an even number, you water on even-numbered days of the month. If it ends in an odd number, you water on odd-numbered days. Check okc.gov for the current water conservation stage during droughts.
Water early in the morning on your days, when less is lost to heat and wind.
Aim for about 1 inch a week in summer, including rain, and about half that in spring and fall.
Split long run times on clay. Two shorter cycles let water soak in instead of running down the gutter.
